Refill, Reuse, Reduce Waste. One Point Five is a community organisation providing a local refill doorstep delivery service in Worthing.
Plastic Waste
Ideally, we would live in a world that’s plastic free. Where sustainable, green, ethical shopping solutions don’t cause a headache or guilt, because they are easily accessible in every community, on every corner. Ideally, we would live in a world where products are more than just single use. Ideally, the world wouldn’t be drastically impacted by plastic packaging and unsustainable consumer habits.
The reality is that our consuming habits significantly impact the earth in which we live. Plastic is unavoidably everywhere. We live in a ‘single use’ society where products are replaceable. We live in a Take-Make-Waste cycle.
Consumer Traps
The problem is that no-one is offering a way-out. Corporate companies continue to drive and expand consumer habits. Larger supermarkets continue to use single-use plastic and non-sustainable products and methods, in shops.
The problem is that refillable, green, sustainable shopping is for the privileged few. Green, sustainable, shopping in the UK is currently around twice the price as comparable products in supermarkets.
Affordable Refill
The solution is to improve refill shopping. Armed with containers, refillable products and truckloads of passion, we need seed funding to launch One Point Five.
The vision of One Point Five is simple. To create a world where plastic-free, green shopping, is a reality. The mission? To make plastic free shopping more accessible, affordable, and inclusive by starting small, starting somewhere. One Point Five aims to create a refill company that serves the needs of the community of West Worthing, Worthing and beyond. That’s it. It’s that simple.
Funding
We require seed funding to start a small-scale pilot offering Pantry Packs on subscription. Funding will contribute to initial start-up costs of training, a small amount of bulk stock, and our website hosting.
Impact
- We aim to widen our impact to all communities in our local area, providing pro bono food boxes to food banks and food foundations
- We aim to raise awareness, access, and affordability of refill shopping in our local community.
- We will reduce waste and increase the number of people using refill shopping.
- We want to connect communities together for environmental purposes, organising beach clean-ups, community events, and environmental early education.
