One Last Pint: A sleepy Scottish pub in 1941 descends into chaos as two brothers go for one last pint before they’re shipped off to war in the morning; during the night the two will deal with eccentric locals, explosive situations and the reality of what's to come.
My vision for this film is to capture the thoughts and feelings of real people in war rather than the war itself whilst making a modern audience realise that not much has changed in 84 years. The film will have a cosy, wholesome feel at first with a quiet, calm pub in rural Scotland that is turned upside down by two chaotic brothers from Kent. Resembling many nights in the pub I’ve had in the past, characters coming in and out at random moments and everything happening in quick succession. Different issues will be portrayed surrounding mental health, hyper masculinity and war that are still repeated in modern society.
This is a story close to my heart, being based on my two great Uncles and various family stories. I would love to bring stories I’ve heard through my Grandparents to life on screen. This funding will help us pay for actors expenses, hire historically accurate costumes and props, and create the world of a WW2 pub.
