22nd October 2015We are on our way to Calais...
Earlier this week, I was whizzing around the corner of Portland Square and Surrey Street on my bicycle, and I saw an old university friend of mine who now works as an Operations Manager for the big summer festivals like Glastonbury, Secret Garden, Wilderness and Glade. We got chatting, and she told me that she had just returned from the Refugee Camp in Calais...
"There are loads of transferable skills from what me and my crew do at the festivals, to what they need out there. I've been building temporary houses for the last week! We're going back next week, there is so much to be done. "

You can imagine, my ears stood to attention. I asked my friend if she thought that the people living in the camp and the volunteers turning up to help everyday would appreciate a project like one day : Day One - Resilience turning up and asking people to share their ideas for the future.
"Yeah, definitely. There is so much going on, the camp is right there when you get off the ferry, more and more people arriving everyday. Anything that can capture this moment in time would be so welcome there."
I believe her, don't you?
