Olive’s’ book club independent book shop

Aim

Olive’s book club is my dream is to start an independent queer owned book shop that promotes the voices of marginalised groups.

Olive’s book club has transpired from a love of books and a love of reading. 

For the last 9 months I have been selling second hand books written by womxn, lgbtqia+, queer, non-binary, and people of colour authors. These are intersections of society who’s voices need to be projected, especially in this current political climate.

I wish to elevate this project by starting an independent online book shop, then eventually a fully fledged independent book shop! Newcastle is a diverse and cultural city. I wish to create a platform to promote voices from marginalised groups of society and to start discussions about books and reading in this amazing city.

Raising money for this project would allow me to buy stock for Olive’s book club, to Set up a website, allowing me to trade. I would also like to work on my branding and produce some cute merchandise and build a solid base of followers in order to eventually procure a property for the shop.
