Aim
Old Guys that Boogie is a community-based bodyboarding and ocean literacy initiative help us tell our inspiring story through film.
Old Guys that Boogie is a community-based bodyboarding and ocean literacy initiative that looks to combine the easily accessible and fun sport of bodyboarding with increasing local marine conservation awareness and understanding through Ocean literacy.
The initiative will empower the local community to become confident wave riders and informed ocean stewards by engaging them in both experiential learning and water-based recreation. Additional benefits also include improvements to both physical health, mental wellbeing and water safety awareness.
Based on the south coast of Cornwall the initiative will initially focus on engaging with thirty-five-year-old plus males encouraging new and old participants to go bodyboarding.
We recognise the importance of capturing and documenting the journey of this project. If we are successful with this funding appeal we will create a short film and additional media content so that we can showcase our experience with others hopefully encouraging them to have fun, ride waves and care about their local marine environment in Cornwall and beyond.
