What is a Warm Welcome?
Oasis is one of a number of organisations within Birmingham providing a 'Warm Welcome' this winter.
Every Wednesday from 9:30am-5pm, anyone and everyone is welcome to drop in to the Oasis building on South Street for somewhere warm to work, play, read, chat or just hang out! Self-service hot drinks are available, along with free Wi-Fi, and areas to work and rest.
Within this, there's a more focussed time for connection with others from 11am-12:30pm (known as the Oasis Café), with all of the above - plus pastries!
Why are we crowdfunding?
The Oasis building on South Street, Harborne, is a stunning, 150-year-old former Methodist Church, complete with beautiful architecture, stained glass windows, and historic features. It's a wonderful place for the community to gather, but it's also quite expensive to heat and maintain during the winter months!
This campaign will enable Oasis to open the building every Wednesday for a Warm Welcome that anyone in the community can access - vital in these times of spiralling energy costs.
How will Oasis spend the money raised?
The funding from this campaign will go towards heating costs for the building, plus essentials such as providing free hot drinks and snacks throughout the day. Depending on the amount raised, it might also enable Oasis to expand the Warm Welcome to other days.
