Last November the Oxford Ancient Languages Society staged an ambitious production of Euripides' Orestes, in the original ancient Greek, with masks and classical costume, as well as a full score of music written according to all available sources for Euripidean music, and accompanied by a professional aulete.
The production was a huge success (sold out every night), and we are very keen to make freely available the film of the production, along with a short accompanying explanatory video, as soon as possible. Unfortunately, due to one expected source of funding falling through, we still need to raise about £2000 for this.
We have also been invited by the distinguished London director Ramin Gray to perform our Orestes again in June at a festival of ancient drama in Canterbury. If, therefore, the £2000 target is exceeded, we would be very grateful for any donations towards the cost of travel and accommodation for our cast.
We are seeking funds from as many sources as possible, but any contribution that anyone feels able to make, however small, would be hugely appreciated. We are keen to recognise any support in the credits of the film (up to the point when the film has been finished and released!) and any future promotional materials: please feel free to contact us ([email protected]), if you make a donation, to confirm whether you would like your name to appear (which we will assume unless we hear otherwise) or if you would prefer to remain anonymous.
