Aim

To elect Carl Benfield as MP for North West Leicestershire

After seeing so much political vitriol on social media I decided to stop complaining and start contributing by standing in the May 2019 local elections. Being ex-military, and now a businessman with a heart for the community, the Green Party were an obvious party to represent, with the fight now being against the existential threat of climate change.Winning the "safest" seat in the district from the Conservative Party, it was clear that residents wanted a fresh approach to politics, and all of the feedback I've had so far has been extremely positive.

Of course there is so much more to do, and having sat in many District Council meetings, it is clear that two-party politics is actually holding our society back with political posturing taking priority over progress.

So that's why I'm asking you to support me in becoming the next Member of Parliament for North West Leicestershire.  Because of our smaller presence in Westminster, you won't be getting someone whose sole ambition is to be in the Cabinet. Rather, I aim to be the very best constituency MP I can be, whilst also promoting measures to minimise climate change and bring about a more equitable society.

This is the first time the Green Party has run a full campaign in the District.  Due to a number of significant factors, we now have a real chance of winning, so please support us and make history happen!

Unlike other parties, we don't have large corporate, finance sector or trade union funding. We are the party of small business and community, and have to work really hard for every pound. We need £5,000 for a viable campaign and £15,000 (the maximum allowable) for full impact.
