Nut Trees For Palmer Park by Transition Reading
We did it
On 27th April 2012 we successfully raised £350 with 11 supporters in 30 days

Transition Reading is part of the Transition Movement, which looks to create and support local, community-based responses to climate change and peak oil. We're working with Reading Borough Council's parks department to create edible planting projects on public land - e.g. fruit and nut tree planting, community orchards etc. We see it as a way to provide free, healthy organic local food for Reading residents while building community links and creating a pleasant atmosphere. Our first edible planting project is to plant a number of fruit and nut trees in Palmer Park in East Reading, and the first phase of that project is to plant around 10 large nut trees around Palmer Park Stadium (Walnut and Sweet Chestnut). We intend to fund future projects by applying for 3rd sector funding, but we are a relatively new organisation so we don't have very much of an accounts history to show when making that kind of application. We've decided to crowd-fund this first, relatively small phase of the project so as to be able to get moving with the project quickly, and so as to have something to point to when making funding applications in the future.
