THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR DONATIONS! I can happily say we've reached sufficient funds to get this nurse her dream bike, insurance, spare wheels and a secure lock for it too! Please do not make any further donations! I am in the process of shutting down the page.

OLD MESSAGE:

Hi everyone,

I'm not one to post things or ask friends for much, however, my dear friend, Deste Cengiz aka Destina aka Dusty aka THE BEST NURSE IN THE WORLD came home upset today.

It was a glorious hot summer's morning and Destina decided to ride her bike into work for the first time ever. She locked it outside of the hospital where she works and went on with her day. A few hours later, she went to make a cup of tea in the staff room, she looked over to where she had parked her bike and realised it was not there, it had been stolen. 

I wouldn't usually set up a fundraiser like this (as it is London) but this woman has been relentlessly strong through these hard times. Destina started working on a Covid-19 ward since the pandemic started and hasn't complained once, she's been a true warrior and a dream to us all. 

Today, it broke my heart to hear that someone would steal a bike directly opposite a hospital, especially during these difficult times. So many things feel unfair and unjust at the moment but I really felt like this was such a kick in the teeth. 

I'm looking to raise enough money to get Destina a similar bike so she can ride in the glorious sunshine again. Anything you can spare will help.
