Aim

To reopen a small petting farm with rescued animals and to allow the public, including local disabled groups to feed and pet the animals.

Welcome to Nowton Farm, just on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. We are a small farm shop and petting farm, with a view of making this place into something special, the lack of funds has meant we have been unable to complete our vision, therefore we are looking for funding to revitalize the farm and make it into the exciting place that it should and could be.

Our aim is not just to give rescued animals a forever home, but to also offer education about the animals to our visitors. Many of the 100's of children that have come to our farm really enjoyed the fact they can interact with our animal in a safe and friendly environment. We have been very lucky in that all our animals seem to want to meet their public. they obviously enjoy the feed they are given. We have sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, numerous rabbits, and now even a parrot called Rocky. All have been taken on at the farm as they were either unwanted or unable to stay with their previous owners.

Gordon the daddy guinea pig.

We help support local special needs groups by offering them "FREE" entry to the farm, we often have groups from SCOPE and Riverwalk School visit us, we have even helped out Riverwalk School with straw bales for their Christmas production. Allowing special needs children the chance to stroke, pet and feed our animals can really make a difference to their confidence, plus it gives the support staff an enjoyable break as well.

Last year we also hosted a number of Charity Fun Day's down on the farm, and raised thousands of £'s for local special needs groups like 'The Amelia Jane Inspirational Trust' and other small animal rescue charities like 'Oddies Rabbit Rescue', and 'Claws and Tails'. This is just part of what the site can offer in return for your funding. The money raised has been used to offer riding lessons for a number of children with special needs, and to support the Rainbow Ward at West Suffolk Hospital.

With your money we are looking to make some general improvements including; new shelters for the chickens and other small animal, new fencing so that the sheep can safely graze the additional car parking area we have, the building of a small children's play area, and to settle some outstanding bills to enable us to reopen properly. The later is mainly due to the fact we originally offered free entry to the site, accepting just people's donations, sadly these were not enough and we have now introduced of a small entrance charge to help pay for the welfare of the animals.

Nowton Farm is run as a non profit organisation, any excess profits we make will be used to buy feed for other local rescue centers, and to continue our work with the rescued animals we have at the farm. Like many small enterprises we really value your support in any way possible, so if you are ever passing, feel free to drop by and see what we are all about.
