Who are UKHarvest?

UKHarvest was established in 2017 with a clear mission to stop good food from going to waste and to tackle food poverty. Every year in the UK millions of tonnes of food is wasted, while many individuals and families face the harsh reality of food insecurity. We’re here to change that.

Operating across the South of England, including Hampshire and West Sussex, we rescue surplus food from a wide network of growers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. We operate our own initiatives and work with other organisations, including food banks, community groups and homeless shelters to ensure those most in need receive healthy, delicious food..

Our work doesn’t stop there. We support people through our 16 Community Food Hubs, help families with our school Grub Clubs, operate the innovative Nourish Hub in London, and provide vital nutrition and cooking skills education to schools, service users, and community groups. This approach ensures that individuals receive access to the food and wider support required to build healthy, stronger communities.

We dream of a future where no good food goes to waste, and no one goes hungry. Every pound we raise helps us to rescue more food, reach more people, and to expand our educational programmes. Your donations will support the award-winning work we do, enabling us to fight food waste, reduce hunger, and foster healthier, more connected communities.

Together, we can make a real difference.

Financial Wellbeing & Climate Action

Our 16 Community Food Hubs across West Sussex provide nutritious food, access to local support services, and a welcoming social space. Last year, we redistributed 215 tonnes of food across 405 sessions—equivalent to 511,905 meals and associated with 814 tonnes of Greenhouse Gas emissions.

The CFH’s primary goal is to reduce food insecurity by offering fresh produce and pantry staples. Though rescued, our strong supply chain ensures variety and nutrition. Volunteers provide cooking tips, recipes, and guidance to NourishEd workshops. Over 73% of customers reported that the hubs had given them access to food they otherwise cannot afford.

The Hubs also host local agencies, including NHS, councils, Citizen’s Advice, and well-being charities, offering on-the-spot support. Nearly 72% of customers reported improved well-being in our latest survey.

We promote the fight against food waste and have numerous resources on how to reduce food waste in the home, from videos playing at each venue to booklets and recipes available. 85.2% of customers agreed that the hubs had helped them to reduce their food waste.
