With your help, we can deliver essential food staples to families battling poverty and mental illness, giving them sustenance and dignity.
A Spark in the Dark Ltd is a charity dedicated to supporting families and young people facing extreme mental health challenges. We provide shelter, care, and vital support for teens struggling with severe mental health issues, and we help families living in poverty regain stability, hope, and wellbeing.
Our newest project, Nourish and Heal, was born from the urgent need we see every day: children going hungry while their parents struggle with financial stress and mental health challenges. Every week, we aim to provide food parcels for 500 children, containing nutritious meals and essential household items, helping families survive the winter with dignity and care.
We know that hungry children can’t thrive, and families battling poverty and mental health crises face impossible choices every day. Nourish and Heal addresses both feeding children and relieving pressure on caregivers, so families can focus on health, recovery, and wellbeing.
This project fits under the Financial Wellbeing funding criteria by reducing financial stress and improving health outcomes for families in crisis.

The families and teens we support are at the intersection of poverty and mental health crises. Rising living costs and food insecurity hit these households hardest, and without immediate support, hundreds of children face going hungry this winter.
Your support will make a real difference:
Children will have nutritious breakfasts, warm dinners, and healthy snacks.
Parents and carers will have one less worry each week, reducing stress and improving mental wellbeing.
People with severe mental health issues will benefit from improved nutrition and stability, which is critical to their recovery and growth.
By funding Nourish and Heal, you are helping families and young people survive the winter, regain hope, and emerge stronger despite the challenges they face.

We are seeking £45,000 to make Nourish and Heal possible this winter. Here’s how your donation will be used:
Weekly food parcels for 500 children – £30,000: Healthful food staples and basic household items to ensure no child goes hungry.
Packaging and delivery costs – £7,500: Ensuring parcels reach families safely and reliably.
Staff and volunteer support – £5,000: Coordinating, packing, and distributing parcels efficiently.
Project management and administration – £2,500: Overseeing the program and maintaining accountability.
This project will directly support children and families, helping them feel nourished, cared for, and supported during a winter of crisis.
