The Story so far:
During 2024, Nottingham Climate Assembly has been working with a whole host of local groups to help them run mini climate assemblies in their communities, schools, colleges, clubs and places of work. The response has been wonderful as people have found a way of voicing their concerns for the future of the planet and considered what they can do about it in their own lives.
Making sure as many people as possible have a say:
In 2025 we want to enable people to come together in a larger assembly, invited to give a completely fair and representative sample of Nottingham's population so that those who haven't necessarily taken part in a mini-assembly can have a voice.
How will the money be used?
The money we raise with our crowd funder will be used to organise the invitations to take part, pay for support by people with detailed knowledge of issues and solutions and help the delegates to make decisions on important questions, many of which will come from the mini-assemblies that are happening this year.
What happens after the Climate Assembly?
The Climate Assembly will run for several weekends and the delegates will be supported to take part. At the end the aim is to agree a Manifesto of recommendations similar to that developed in the 2023 Youth Climate Assembly. The organisations within the Green Partnership have agreed to look at how they can act on the Manifesto and it will be taken back out to a series of further mini-assemblies within the community as a framework for further discussion and action.
