Aim

Fundraising to make facility improvements that were scuppered by a COVID hit 2020 season that saw revenue streams significantly impacted

A Clubmark accredited cricket club, North Petherton CC offers a safe place to develop and deliver grassroots cricket across various age groups.

The club runs a thriving youth section with cricket on offer for under 11, under 13 and under 15 age groups as well as 3 senior sides.

2021 marks the beginning of 2 new exciting ventures in the form of All-Stars Cricket for 5-8 year old's, and women's softball cricket.

The COVID hit 2020 season had a detrimental effect on the clubs revenue streams as membership fees (both playing and non-playing) and regular fund raising events were non-existent due to restrictions in place.

What will the money be spent on?

The money raised will be used on the following areas that require urgent attention;

  • Repair of both sight screens

  • Replacement of damaged nets and refurbishment and repair of net surface that has subsided at the batting crease1617467537_cricket_nets.jpg

  • Reconfiguration of communal area to ensure COVID safe use. This includes plans to knock down partition walls to open up the "bar area".
  • Dedicated safe area for children that will include play equipment1617708569_play_park.jpg
  • Maintenance of square which includes servicing of machinery required to undertake such work1617707849_square.jpg
  • Maintenance of Pavilion 1617707550_pavillion.jpg
  • Maintenance of Changing facility

Who Will Benefit?

The club is an important part of the local community and offers adults and children of all ages access to play cricket as well as non-playing residents a pleasant environment to spectate and socialise. Without these urgent works being undertaken these benefits could be at risk.

  • Current and future junior members to train and play weekly
  • Somerset over 50’s matches regularly played at the ground
  • 3 senior sides to train and play weekly
  • New dedicated ladies section to train and play weekly
  • Cricket lovers in the community, entry to all games is free so the club provides hours of entertainment for no cost.
  • All-Stars (5 to 8 year old children's introduction to cricket)

2021 Season

The playing season is set to start on time, but with similar restrictions in place to the 2020 season. This will further limit opportunities for revenue into the club and could leave us in a very precarious position.
