Aim

To provide service users who are joining us in 2022 with work skills training in order to improve their employability & financial wellbeing.

OUR VISION

We want to see people with disability achieve their potential and realise their ambitions, conquer social isolation, and play a full a role as possible in the community.

The people we help are at risk of falling through the cracks and not reaching their potential, so what we do is vital. It gives them a job, a social network and dignity.

Over the last 58 years we have helped hundreds of people with disability to move into careers with ourselves and with mainstream employers. The demand for our service remains high due to the unique and impactful nature of what we do.

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY

Watford Workshop has been supporting people with disability from Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas since 1964.  We exist to enable people with disability to live more independently through teaching them work skills through paid employment. This can then potentially lead to them moving to mainstream employment. We are unique in our locality and rely on subcontract work such as packing, labelling and light assembly completed by our remarkable team for our income.

In the UK today there are over 13.9 million disabled people, and sadly they are twice as likely to be unemployed as able-bodied people. This sad statistic has not been helped by the pandemic and moving into employment remains an uphill battle for people with disabilities. We are doing our bit to address this.

We need your help in delivering our expanded service to new clients who are joining us in 2022. The impact of the pandemic means that there is a backlog of people with disability who have had either limited or no access to opportunities to gain skills and improve their lives over the last two years. This means that the demand for our services is higher than ever and we are endeavouring to help as many as we can during this period of national recovery.

The initial target is £1,000 to help fund the work skills project to provide jobs and work training. This will mean that people with disability are being supported and learning vital new work skills while with us. This will prepare them well for careers they did not know were possible for them before they came to us - further integrating them into society.
