Aim

Keeping grassroots music alive in East Devon, funding SPL Radio, live events, and real opportunities for unsigned artists and young people.

Who we are

Sustainable Project Live (SPL) is a Community Interest Company based in East Devon. As a CIC, we're non-profit, every pound raised is reinvested directly back into the community.

We exist to support grassroots music: producing live events, broadcasting on SPL Radio, and creating real opportunities for unsigned artists and young people in our region.

We're not a corporate promoter. We're not a tick-box arts project. We're a community-driven organisation fighting to make sure East Devon has a music scene worth showing up for.

Every artist you love started somewhere small

Radiohead, Adele, Arctic Monkeys, every artist who ever moved you started at the bottom of the ladder. That ladder is grassroots music. And right now, it's collapsing.

Venues are closing. Promoters are giving up. Funding is disappearing. In rural areas like East Devon, the situation is even harder, less visibility, fewer opportunities, and a music industry that largely looks the other way.

East Devon doesn't just want a music scene. It needs one. If we don't support this ecosystem now, it will disappear, and it won't come back.

What SPL does about it

We're building something that lasts, not just putting on shows, but laying the foundations that make live music possible across East Devon.

SPL Radio gives unsigned artists and local voices a platform. Our live events are designed to pay artists fairly and bring something real to our communities. And we work directly with local venues, many of which are struggling and at risk of closing, providing the live sound support they need to host music in the first place.

SPL is specifically designed to support those venues. Without them, there is no scene.

We also want to increase the cultural diversity of what East Devon sees and hears, in the artists we platform, the events we produce, and the audiences we build.

The scene needs all of us!

Bands need venues. Venues need promoters. Promoters need audiences. Audiences need artists worth showing up for. Break one link in that chain and the whole thing falls apart.

SPL exists to hold that chain together in East Devon. But we can't do it without the community behind us.

What your money does

Every pound raised stays in East Devon and goes directly back into the community:

  • SPL Radio — broadcasting costs, licences, and equipment
  • Live events — a financial buffer so exciting events can happen without breaking the organisation
  • Equipment and infrastructure — maintaining and expanding our live sound setup so more venues across the region can host music
  • Youth engagement — a workshop programme that brings young people into the design of East Devon's future events and radio

Why now?

SPL Radio is live. The East Devon Soul Festival is in development. The community is ready. What we need now is the support to match that momentum.

This is your chance to be part of something that genuinely belongs to East Devon, not a corporate brand, not an outside promoter. A community organisation that just wants to cover its costs and pour everything else back into the music and the people who make it.

No local scene without local support.
