We're still collecting donations
On the 19th July 2024 we'd raised £37,011 with 398 supporters in 14 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
An inclusive cafe, where people with different abilities gain new skills & are supported in their transition to work and more independence
by No Limits Community Cafe & Hub CIC in Newton Abbot, Devon, United Kingdom
On the 19th July 2024 we'd raised £37,011 with 398 supporters in 14 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Firstly THANK YOU we are all over the moon and so grateful, your support and generosity means we met our first target of a huge £30,000 including the matched funding from AVIVA.
If we are fortunate to receive further support past our target your donations will help us towards the cost of the two items below.
Both will have a hugely beneficial impact on the whole cafe team and our customers. They are both items we have needed for a long time but are not items it is easy to obtain funding for.
Our cafe is lovely and bright due to the large windows, however these cannot be opened. The heat and steam impacts on the whole team making the space uncomfortable to work in at times, especially for those individuals who have difficulty with temperature regulation or sensory issues.
As for the kitchen team, they work incredibly hard in all conditions even when it is not comfortable in there. (The ice lollies, fans and ice packs are not enough!)
We have fixed them so many times but they are about to give up on us!
This will help make the cafe even easier to access for those with mobility requirements and reduce our extortionate heating costs during the colder weather.
The more money that we raise gives us the scope to continue our project for as long as possible. Our team AND the community have been on the journey with us and helped us build No Limits Cafe and No Limits Supported Employment into the fantastic project we are today.
Thank you from all of us at No Limits. To know we have so many people behind us drives us on to continue making a difference.
SAVE OUR CAFE, SO WE CAN HELP EVEN MORE PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT ABILITIES! " We are more than just a cafe, we are a community"
We want to continue our amazing work; We are a Community Cafe & Hub, a nurturing, inclusive place, where people with different abilities learn new skills, gain work experience, and are supported in their transition to work and a more independent adult life.
We are very fortunate to have been granted match funding from AVIVA.
This means for every £1.00 you donate Aviva will also donate £1.00! This is a fantastic opportunity but we must reach our target of £30,000 (which includes the match funding) to receive the AVIVA donations!
Aviva match one donation per individual up to a single donation per individual of £250.
Who are we?
We are more than just a bustling town centre café, we are breaking down barriers in our community, one cappuccino at a time! At No Limits, we empower adults of all ages, with a range of physical learning and communication needs, to gain employability skills and grow in confidence. CHECK OUT OUR VIDEOS HERE!
We also offer No Limits Supported Employment Outreach, we aim to increase the number of people with different abilities entering the paid workforce.
Nearly 50% of our wonderful team includes people with disabilities, proving that our cafe wouldn’t run smoothly without them!
We subscribe to the social model of disability, which states that people are disabled by barriers and attitudes in society, not by their differences. We are a not-for-profit community interest company with all profits reinvested into our organisation to support the community. We are also converting to Charity status to further our charitable work.
What we do.
Since June 2020, despite the challenges posed by the lockdowns, we've supported nearly 100 individuals through our work experience placements, helping them transition into paid employment or gain self-confidence and a sense of inclusion and value.
At No Limits our team members focus on Barista Skills and certification, Catering, Front of House, customer skills, communication, team work, and building confidence!
The opportunities we offer.
Our fabulous team!
What they all have in common is that they are passionate about the job they do and really care!
Our team members focus on barista skills, catering, front-of-house service, communication, teamwork, and building confidence. They are supported by qualified Job Coaches, ensuring they feel a sense of accomplishment, belonging, and value. Our Job Coaches have diverse backgrounds and qualifications, including Level 3 Supported Employment Practitioners.
We employ individuals with various needs in roles such as Kitchen Porters, Catering Assistants, and office staff. We also have Cafe Team Mentors who, with different abilities themselves, act as role models.
Our Community Engagement; We wouldn't be the same without you!
We are a central part of our community, providing a safe space for vulnerable and isolated people and combating loneliness. We engage with local people, offering opportunities in our inclusive, friendly cafe. Many now call us 'friends'. We also provide social hardship support, giving out 'pay it forward' meals and hot drinks to locals in need thanks to the generosity of our customers.
Our Total Communication approach includes photographs, pictures, symbols, Makaton and British Sign Language, Braille, Large Print, and Symbol menus. We also have a hearing loop and accessible facilities.
Our 'Social Saturdays' and 'REES FOUNDATION Cafe' initiatives highlight our commitment to inclusivity.
Supported Employment Outreach; We support people into paid roles across Devon and show other organisations the benefits of employing a diverse workforce!
Since February 2023 we have helped 14 individuals into meaningful, paid roles within other organisations across Devon! We provide a stepping stone and support system for paid employment.
As a Disability Confident Leader we are experiencing increasing demand to support individuals across Devon into paid employment, covering a whole host of jobs.
Why We Need Your Help
Despite our successes, the current economic climate poses challenges, leading to a short-term funding crisis. We need your help to continue offering opportunities to local people with different abilities and to meet the increasing demand for our services.
Your Donations Will Help Us:
Recognition Of Our Work
In May 2024 we won the Plymouth & Devon Chamber of Commerce EQUALITY TRAILBLAZER AWARD (in association with Classic Builders) , recognising our commitment to diversity and inclusion within our workforce, customers, and community outreach work.
