Is to secure funding enough to operate a mental health therapy suite for veterans, and those who serve in the Police and Emergency Services.
Mental Health is a huge problem for members and veterans of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services, NHS, Animal Rescue Services and War refugees.
The amount of people suffering from issues such as PTSD, Anxiety, Burnout, Depression and many other conditions is completely staggering. I know this because I am one of those people.
I have served in the Armed Forces , Prison Service , Police Service and RSPCA. My own mental health took a complete battering whilst serving as a police officer and as a result I was retired in 2009 as a result of being diagnosed with PTSD. The constant exposure to traumatic incidents, the lack of assistance, understanding, empathy and acknowledgement by the leaders and management within the police service in regard to mental health, caused me and others to suffer greatly.
In 2019 and after a number of friends and colleagues had committed Suicide due to their service and despite suffering from my own mental I founded NO DUFF UK. We take both proactive and reactive approaches when dealing with our service users.
We have a board of Directors who have either served in the emergency services or HM Forces. Which sets us apart from other organisations when it comes to peer to peer support. We have a team of 8 therapists who can deliver therapies such as self centred Counselling, CBT, EMDR and transdiagnostic therapies.
NO DUFF UK is a small not for profit organisation growing at a fast pace. Waiting lists for such therapy through police occupational health can be in excess of 6 months depending on which force it is. Officers will be lucky to get 6 - 8 sessions of treatment via their force. This is NOT enough. The waiting list via NHS can be longer. We know that there are others who waited 8 months and suffered greatly due to this.
NO DUFF UK can have people into private therapy within weeks. This is hugely beneficial to those who suffer. The staff at NO DUFF are all ex forces or ex police. We understand the needs of those who suffer as they have and do suffer themselves. NO DUFF is not your typical politically correct organisation, they do dark humour, they swear, they do banter just like in the services. They are a different kind of organisation.
NO DUFF UK needs your help to fund the use of a venue to support those who need help. The venue will be used as a drop in centre for anyone suffering and in need of help, it will house counselling rooms, fitness studio and classrooms for mental health first aid training etc. It will be a friendly and safe environment away from the organisations that the mental health issues initiated from.
The money will be used in order to purchase a support vehicle which will enable us to conduct outreach work. provide transport for who have no access to transport. It will enable us to develop our therapy rooms, provide IT Equipment, furniture, office equipment stationary, and livery for No Duff UK and its supported organisations.
YOU CAN NOT HEAL IN THE SAME ENVIRONMENT THAT MADE YOU SICK.
