Aim

New Mills Juniors Football Club is looking to build a secure indoor space for the community including changing facilities for players.

Who are we?

We were founded in 1972 by a gentleman called Mike Taylor, along with a group of like-minded people. Mike’s name features on the collar of all our playing kits as a reminder of what he did for our club. We celebrated our 50th anniversary recently and throughout this time, the club has brought together family members across the generations to come and watch children have fun playing football. Our passion and focus are to provide any child, regardless of age or ability, the opportunity to play the game we love.

Why are we crowdfunding?

What we propose

A permanent building in which to base our changing and welfare facilities. This would use the existing electricity and power connections to provide a bright, well-appointed place for our children and the associated football family to come together and have fun. This building will replace our current storage container and provide not only storage facilities but changing rooms, toilets, a café and much more.

Moving to a 25-year lease, demonstrating to the community that the long-term health and wellbeing of their children is safeguarded, with a site they can depend on and facilities they can be proud of.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Whilst we appreciate the amount of money we are trying to raise is a large sum, we will also be getting more money elsewhere from various Government and Sporting foundations, which will in total raise the full amount for the building work to commence.

Community impact

Our programmes have a profound effect on mental health and confidence. For many young people, joining the club provides a sense of belonging and purpose. Regular training and matches help improve physical fitness, while the supportive team environment boosts self-esteem. Parents often tell us that their children have grown in confidence both on and off the pitch, and that the club has helped reduce feelings of isolation.

A recent example is our Wildcats scheme, where we act as a local hub for a national initiative by the Football Association. This programme has encouraged girls from different schools and backgrounds to come together, forming new friendships and breaking down barriers in a traditionally male-dominated sport.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
