Help the New Music Ensemble present the piece "Circular Exclusion" at the EU Parliament (Strasbourg) during the European Youth Event 2016!

The NME is a London-based collective of creators and makers of music and performance art. It brings together individuals and groups with different cultural and educational backgrounds, skills and experiences, aiming to define some of the future relevant lines of contemporary art.

We are preparing to perform Circular Exclusion to hundreds of young people in the EU Parliament during the next EYE (European Youth Event) on the 20th and 21st of May 2016, however we do not have the financial means to realise this activity, thus we are currently running a fundraising campaign in order to meet the required expenditure.
So far we have received great support letters from several people involved in the event's organisation, including Sylvie Guillaume, the vice president of the EU Parliament. You can read some of them HERE. We would be very pleased if you took a look at our project and could see the same interest they do in it!
Running
Performers (citizens) are lined in a row (social organisation) constituting the radius of a large circumference, transversaly going from the centre to the perifery. They all are set to run circularly (life), trying to maintain the row's regular shape whilst performing concentricaly organised running-paths (social classes). This means that the more distant performers are from the centre, the bigger their path is, so some will enevitably have to run more than others.

Singing
While running, performers will be asked to sing national anthems from countries where English, French or German is spoken. Singing will add another element to their fatigue, exacerbating the difference between performers even further.
Exhaustion
Once the most peripheral performers reach the limit of their physical capacities, they will start to sing something different: a tune or a song, which is culturally and personally dear to them and their (real) lives. Simultaneously, they will cease to accompany the row’s stable pace and run directly towards the core of the structure, ramming whoever they meet along the lines.

Centre
The closer a performer is to the centre the easier it is to fulfil their role. Some will be jogging comfortably; some may be marching or just walking gently. At the core there will be one performer spinning at a majestically slow, noble pace.
The piece will be devised to be interactive as audience members might be caught in the middle of it and so, be incentivised to react to it and acknowledge their role as potential participants. Some may step back and observe; some may engage with the work and conform to its rules; some may enact changes to the very unfolding of the piece; some may try to stop it. This aims to foster the idea that “there is no outside” and everyone always has some potential to act upon the now; a concept that applies itself to the broader domain of contemporary social dynamics.
We believe that the priority is that we must be able to pay for train tickets, otherwise we cannot get there! Once this is secured, we proceed to pay for the one night of accomodation and transport once we are there. After this, we would really like to pay for all artists' work, as well as for rehearsals. Because documentation is so important to this project's reach and impact, as well as to the professional development of everyone involved, we need to invest in a good quality audiovisual recording of the peformance. Finally, it would be a great contribution to the success and good quality of our project's outputs, to be paid for the indispensable many hours of work that we put in the administration, production and communication of our project.
Here is a summary of our project's costs:
HUMAN RESOURCES
Total human resources costs: £2995
LOGISTICS
Total logistics costs: £1770
TOTAL: £4765
Please feel free to request a complete breakdown of our project's expenditure.
We will be happy to send it to you via email!
