Help Us Give Children The Medical Care They Desperately Need!

The Vans Without Borders team is currently operating in Kaduna, Nigeria, where our team has been visiting hospitals and delivering care packages to families who are struggling to afford even the most basic necessities.

But while walking through one hospital ward, we saw something that shocked us.

There were children lying in hospital beds who weren’t receiving the treatment they desperately needed.

We asked why.

The answer was heartbreaking: they had run out of money.

One of the children was a malnourished baby who needed oxygen to survive.

We asked how much it would cost to refill an oxygen tank.

4,500 Nigerian Naira - around £2.30.

A child was being denied potentially life-saving treatment because her family could not find £2.30.

So we paid for the tank to be refilled, and paid the balance for two more in future.

But there are many more children in this hospital - and many more hospitals across Nigeria - whose families are facing the same impossible situation.

Other children need basic surgery to stop them have life-long disfigurements, for sometimes as little as 450,000 Naira - roughly £150–£200 - a child can have a life-changing operation.

For many families in Nigeria, that is an impossible amount of money.

But for someone able to donate from the UK, Europe or America, it can be the difference between a child receiving the treatment they need and living with a preventable disability for the rest of their life.

£2 or £3 can provide oxygen to a critically ill child.

£20 could help provide essential medication or treatment.
