The Fresh Standard are building YOUR taproom. More accessible, warmer, open more, available for private classes, workshops and meetings
In March 2022, with lots of help from friends and family, we (Charlotte and Rich) opened the doors of our little beer palace on a trading estate beside a cycle track. We didn’t really know what would happen next but hopefully a few people might want to come and hang out with a beer.
We did not think so many of you would! The last 3 years have overwhelmed us by the numbers of people that wanted to spend time at our thrown together dive bar and drink the sort of beer we want to make for you.
In that time, we’ve hosted so many memorable evenings with other local businesses providing amazing food, musicians providing entertainment and customers becoming great friends. Since our tap opened we have seen other businesses attracted to our little trading estate in the valley and now we have a boxing gym, café and catering company trading with the public on site.
Despite being off the beaten track, new people seem to keep finding us to join the regular faces. However our production space and outdoor seating have always been our Achilles heel and we have been hostage to the weather since opening. So looking to create some more sheltered and warm indoor space has always been on our itinerary
Amazingly the unit next door has become available which has allowed us to expand our space without changing the original feel of your favourite taproom. We would love to use the time in January and February next year to fit it out to the freshest of possible standards but we need your help to do so.
We are looking to raise funds for:
• Furniture
• Floor
• Accessible toilet with baby change
• Bespoke bar with the highest standard of beer dispense
• Temperature controlled beer store
• Wood burning stove and insulation.
• Décor, lighting and entertainment system.
• Moving existing production plant to old bar space.
• Improve and landscape the bank space by the fence along the cycle path.
This will enable us to:
• Open the bar more evenings of the week
• Pub quiz, talks, club space and meetings
• Provide more indoor music events
• Brewing events and tours.
• Double our outdoor space in the summer
• Serve the best beer in Stroud (but we already did that)
• Create a cosy space extending our season to all year round.
We are also be interested in any ideas or other donations you may think would benefit our wonderful community and truly make it YOUR taproom.
