Aim
Help us take our beloved Henleaze's local bookshop into its next chapter by expediting all the improvement ideas you shared!
Our Story
We are Anne, Grafton, and Little Grafton, and we’re very excited to take over Max Minerva’s following the incredible work that Sam and Jess did with the bookshop.
Owning a bookshop has been a longtime dream of ours, and we can’t wait to start shaping the shop in our vision, as well as the vision of the community.
We have received a lot of wonderful feedback from customers and local residents about what they want from their local bookstore, and we want to put this into practice as soon as possible!
For every £1 you contribute up to £10,000, we'll match it, - with the aim of making changes quicker to benefit everyone.
The Vision
We heard your ideas, and our immediate next steps include introducing:
- More comfortable seating and a reading sofa for hanging out in-store
- Improved offerings in our non-fiction, children, and Teen/YA sections
- Children's readings, story times, and activities on weekends and term breaks
- Greater varieties of book clubs
- Updated decor, paint, and branding
- More author and reading events
- More reviews, suggestions, and recommendations from our booksellers
- Partnerships with schools, elderly care facilities, and prisons
We want the shop to be one in which you can browse, chat, and relax with your potential next read. We also want it to be a community hub with regular events for readers of all stripes.

- £150 - 1 hour writing consultation with award-winning crime writer Bonnie Burke-Patel (feedback on 5,000 word working manuscript)
- £180 - 1 hour writing mentorship with award-winning and bestselling author Lucy Rose (feedback on 500 words, advice about publishing industry and getting started)
