We are aiming to open a NEWway Work Hub to support homeless single adults in Newham back to work through structured learning programme.
NEWway Project is a grassroots charity based in London Borough of Newham. We provide a direct response to the growing challenge of single adult homelessness and rough sleeping in our area. NEWway offers a safe daytime space, a winter shelter, and specialist advice for those facing the trauma of homelessness, supporting them throughout the journey towards a safe move-on. We are with our guests every step of the way and have seen many come through extreme hardship to rebuild their futures.
Following the success of last year's sponsored bike ride, a group of enthusiast cyclists gathered together to do another bike trip this year. 10 guests accompanied by our co-funder will cycle 120 miles in three days between 20th and 22nd May 2026. They want to use this opportunity to fundraise for a new NEWway Work Hub that will provide a classroom-based work preparation and hands-on work experience in carpentry, gardening, landscaping, and catering.
We would love to provide space for people like Moses, who are passionate about plant growing and can share their knowledge and skills with others in our garden space. We aim to engage with 90 guests and support them to open a new social enterprise that will sell crops grown by them.
The Work Hub will also be used for carpentry workshops with a view of building and selling bird boxes, window flower boxes, benches, etc. The profits will be used to sustain the Work Hub and provide apprenticeship to our guests, so that they can earn while upskilling and gaining qualifications to move to a more permanent work.
