As a club that is rapidly growing we need to radically improve our facilities for our senior and junior teams and the wider community.

On the 2nd October 2023 we'd raised £2,960 with 38 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
NLWCC is a rapidly growing club with over a 100 year history of playing cricket in the Yorkshire Dales. Members come from the village itself as well as the surrounding villages, players travel as far as Darlington to represent the club on a regular basis. We have strong links with the local Forces community in Catterick Garrison, the largest Army Garrison in Europe. The club has experience of Senior cricket both on a Saturday in the Nidderdale Cricket League as well as midweek in the Wensleydale Cricket League. The club has seen success historically in a range of cup competitions and more recently have climbed from Division 7 to Division 2 in the last 6 seasons. The club introduced junior cricket for the first time in over 40 years in 2022 and this has gone from strength to strength. 2023 saw the first U9 league team enter the Hambleton Junior Cricket League as well as some U11 experience ready for future seasons. The future is bright at NLWCC as an ambitious and forward thinking club.
Our current pavilion was built over 60 years ago and is in drastic need of replacement. As the club has climbed the divisions the need for toileting and showering facilities has become more apparent.
Juniors visiting the club require a safe place to be able to change pre-game as well as have safe and hygienic toileting facilities (see below!)
The plans for the new pavilion can be seen below.
Not only will this ensure a safe environment for players but spectators will have increased viewing platforms and a club room they can be proud of to call their own. The community plan to use this space further for events including planned social events for local Veterans of the armed forces.
The current pavilion, despite repairs over the years, is dangerous and not fit for purpose.
The club has already received approval for planning permission and the next steps are in place to begin work once funding is secured.
The club began fundraising in 2022. This has funded the planning application and design process to date. We have been lucky enough to receive £10,000 from the National Lottery to fund the toilet and showering facilities as well as drainage.
Pledges of over £100 will receive their name engraved in the new pavilion as a thank you for supporting the project as well as an invite to the grand opening.
Funding raised will go towards the new pavilion build and we anticipate that this will be fully functional for a grand opening in 2024.
Once fully open and operational, the club will be in a greater position to host local finals days, Junior cricket festivals and regional finals days.
As previously stated, the club has strong links within the local community in the village and beyond. The club is a pillar of the community and residents regularly attend games to cheer on The Railway Men and Women and Juniors.
The local villagers use the ground on an annual basis for the village sports day and it is anticipated that with the new pavilion it can be utilised even more by the community.
The Yorkshire Regiment and Light Dragoons regularly use Railway View to host home games against opposing regiments as a second ground to their Garrison ground. Enhanced facilities will strengthen this partnership further and allow the opportunity for more members of the armed forces cricketing community to use ht facilities.
More over, local schools have expressed an interest in using the ground once the pavilion is complete for regular sporting events in their calendar. Our closest neighbouring school, Aysgarth School, already regularly support the club in a variety of ways and a new pavilion will strengthen these further.
Once the pavilion is complete the possibilities are endless, not just sporting but additional events such as the newly formed Annual Easter egg hunt that was so successful in 2023. As a pledger, wewould be open to additional ideas and support and how we can use the facilities for the wider community even further.
