Help Us Open Newquay’s Community Pantry

Aim

Our new community pantry, The Stores in Newquay, will offer affordable food, dignity, and support and help people move beyond the foodbank.

We are Newquay Foodbank, a local charity supporting people in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. Through our work, we consistently hear that one of the biggest challenges people face is moving on from emergency food provision and regaining independence without falling back into crisis.

That’s why we are launching a new model: The Stores community pantry. This project is designed to help people transition from free emergency food to affordable, dignified shopping, offering choice, stability, and a stepping stone towards financial independence.

Our vision is a Newquay where fewer people rely on foodbanks long-term, and more people feel supported, confident, and in control of their food choices. The Stores will also provide a welcoming space for connection and access to practical support such as budgeting and wellbeing guidance.

The money we raise will be used to set up the pantry from the ground up. This includes essential equipment like fridges, freezers, and shelving, initial stock to open the doors, staff training, and setup costs for our partnership with Your Local Pantry. It will also ensure we can deliver a safe, welcoming, and sustainable service from day one.

Together, we can build a fairer, more dignified way to access food in Newquay.
