Aim

We are raising funds for life-saving medical equipment and supplies to support medical staff still working in Sudan.

We’re hosting a fundraiser to support civilian casualties while the war in Sudan is ongoing. Join us on Friday 23rd June from 4 - 6 pm for food, discussions and performances to stand in solidarity with our Sudanese friends and to raise vital funds.

If you can’t make it please donate to this page, your donation will mean live-saving medical equipment and supplies.

Your donation also sends an important message and shows those living and working in Sudan and in the UK that Newcastle supports Sudan and that we care about what is happening to all those affected by the conflict.

Context:

The Sudanese military conflict is causing a rapid increase in civilian casualties; immediate medical care is needed.

The armed conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Force has devastated Sudan. Aggressive tactics have resulted in the deaths of at least 958 civilians since the fighting began and the injury of 4,476 people since 12th June 2023. The actual figures are likely to be much higher. More than one million people remain trapped in Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri and thousands of people are wounded, displaced, and living as refugees.

With the continuation of violations of International Humanitarian Law, over 70 percent of hospitals in the capital and other states have ceased operations, and medical supplies are in limited supply. Despite this, brave physicians and health professionals continue to provide extensive health care in these challenging conditions.

What your donation  will do:

During this critical time, we ask that you give generously and support efforts to aid the people of Sudan.

All funds raised will be donated to the Preliminary Committee of the Sudan Doctor's Trade Union to assist in providing essential medications and treatments. Your donation saves lives.
