To develop the Newcastle Mela 25th Anniversary celebratory programme, to reach a bigger and more diverse audience at this landmark event.
Newcastle Mela 2018
We are proud to announce that 2018 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Newcastle Mela, a vibrant cultural event, which takes place every year in Exhibition Park, in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Newcastle Mela is a celebration of South Asian music, food, crafts and activities and is a free, family-friendly event that has something for everyone, no matter what your age or background.
This year, the Newcastle Mela 25th Anniversary event will take place on Sunday 26th and Bank Holiday Monday 27th August 2018.

The Newcastle Mela is asking for your help. As this is a very special year, we would like to develop an even more spectacular programme to celebrate the Newcastle Mela’s 25 years of entertaining visitors from far and wide.
We hope to raise £10,000 to expand the creative programme to include a Parade through the city, a Poetry Marquee and new headline music acts to compliment the activities and performances that usually take place over the two days.
We are eligible for a 50% match from #CrowdfundNewcastleCulture through the Community Foundation Tyne and Wear, but in order to acquire this funding we must secure £5k from supporters and the public.
With your support we can make this a year to remember for all our communities across the city and further afield.
Please pledge your support and encourage your friends to support us too. We have some amazing limited-edition rewards in exchange for your pledges!
Thank you,
The Newcastle Mela 25th Anniversary team
