New stretch target
We have been overwelmed by the support received through Crowdfunder and it is amazing to have achieved our initial target of £10,000. A huge thanks to everyone that has pledged so far but if we can raise additional funds we can do so much more to make the Newcastle Mela 25th Anniversary one to remember!
We would like to stretch our original target by £3,000 to go towards the Mela Parade and activities.
On Sunday 26th August, day one of the Newcastle Mela, we are planning a parade which will bring an element of the Mela in to Newcastle City Centre. The parade will be vibrant and colourful and will include dance, music, wheeled structures, stiltwalkers, walkabout performers and local people and businesses joining in with the walk from Blackett Street to Exhibition Park .
If we can raise these extra funds we can run some activities in the centre of Newcastle prior to the parade taking place. This could include dancers, dhol drummers, henna artist and we will be offering street circus entertainment. The parade and the entertainment on offer at the Monument will give visitors to Newcastle City Centre a flavour of what they can expect at the Newcastle Mela.
There are still rewards available and if you pledge you can be part of making the parade and activities in the City Centre happen.
