New stretch target

Should we raise just a little more than our target we will be able to purchase more even more lighting equipment. Also, any extra cash will help cover the operational charges Crowdfunder make

Since Spring 2017 Sydenham-based not-for-profit theatre company Spontaneous Productions has been staging regular theatre events for families and grown-ups Upstairs at the Sydenham Centre. Now a well-established venue and much loved by regular audiences, we're looking to transform the Upstairs space by improving its facilities.

When this new venue opened last year, Lewisham Council had installed a very basic theatre lighting system - providing enough just equipment to light a live performance on stage. For each show that we have staged Upstairs, Spontaneous Productions have been hiring in additional theatre lights - at great expense - providing the full range of colour effects that a high-quality theatre show requires. With your generous support we can purchase new theatre lighting equipment, enabling all our productions to reach the highest standards of quality. For example, the photos above show pictures taken by Mark Drinkwater of our landmark production of Lucy Kaufman's play ELEANOR MARX: THE JEWESS OF JEWS WALK. Partly funded by Crowdfunder and Arts Council England, this production utilised hired-in lighting equipment, providing a professional sheen to the show's production values.

6-colour LED lights cost approx £250 each, so to purchase at least 3 new lights plus associated cabling should total at least £1000. Help us reach this target by pledging today and spreading the word to those in the Sydenham community and beyond. Who knows? In a few weeks you should be able to see the results, as we return with a full autumn programme of theatre shows including:

THE THREE LITTLE PIGS GO WEST - musical theatre show for families (5 weekends from Sat 15 Sept - Sun 21 Oct)

CREAM OF OCELOT - the very best short plays and sketches by The Brothers Kaufman (four dates in October tbc)

CINDERELLA - free Christmas panto for all ages, Sat 1 Dec
