Who we are

Wolverton Town Cricket Club are a friendly, multi-cultural  and fully inclusive based club formed in 1894 and based in the North Buckinghamshire town of Milton Keynes. We have approximately 120 members ranging from 6 years old to adults.
We are a well known and valued part of the local community and we believe that cricket can help children to develop their personal, social and physical skills. We host regularly Bucks Cricket age group boys and girls games and over 50’s, 60’s and even over 70’s matches. We have also hosted England Deaf cricket matches.
We aim to give everyone the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket.

How You Can Help

Coronavirus - has had a big impact on our Cricket Club: all of our planned senior league matches have been cancelled in 2020 resulting in a big loss of revenue in subscriptions and match fees - this has been a truly difficult time! Any funds we did have for major projects in 2020 have gone to maintaining the ground and equipment to the high standard expected by the respective leagues we play in.

Our Aim

In 2020 our aim was to  replace our not fully working and decaying manual scorebox facia with new structure and electronic numbers. The current structure is rotting and needs to be replaced to make it safe. It would also bring us into line with the 21st Century and the modern method of computer scoring. This unfortunately has been put on the back burner until we have sufficient funds to complete the project: - This is becoming now more urgent -  The total cost of this project is between £7000 and £9000.

Our other aims for the club in the near future are:

  • Raise funds for the club so we can continue to pay our overheads and survive the pandemic.
  • Purchase essential training equipment for our junior section - Bats, stumps, balls, cones, catching ramps, running ladders etc.
  • Develop a girls/ladies cricket section.
  • Attract young people from deprived communities by providing expensive equipment like  helmets, pads, gloves and bats.
  • Improve health and wellbeing of all.
  • Send more people on coaching, umpiring, scoring and first aid courses.

We are applying for Sport England 'Active Together' matchfunding. If successful Sport England will add the monies raised to make our total even bigger! This will mean that any donations are worth more to us when donated through this Crowdfunder - so please do help us if you can!

Local Support

Wolverton Town Cricket Club has the full support and backing of the Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council and many local businesses in the area.

As part of our commitment to the community we have been providing free coaching sessions to local schools in the past ten years.

In conjunction with Bucks Cricket we run an annual Milton Keynes Primary School Kwik Cricket friendly competition with  teams enjoying a day out at our Osborne Street Ground which is welcomed by pupils and teachers alike after much hard work with SATs tests.

We are also keen to encourage more girls and women to play cricket and are looking to welcoming them to the club in the near future.
