Aim

Trinity RFC are looking to raise funds to finance a scrum machine to allow us to safely train & improve the skillset of our players

Who are we?

Trinity RFC are a thriving amateur community rugby club based in Sanderstead, South Croydon. We were formerly known as Old Mid-Whitgiftian RFC prior to our name change on 1st June 2019 and have still retained our nicknames of The Mids or Midwives.

The club was founded in 1926 by the old boys of Trinity School in Croydon which at the time was called Whitgift Middle School, hence out former name! We have however long been a fully open club with links to a number of local schools as well as retaining our original link with Trinity.

Our 1st XV currently play in Surrey and Sussex Counties 1 and our 2nd XV play in the Surrey Alliance league. In addition to this we are also entered into both a Vets and U22s competition plus we have the Titans which is our thriving Mini and Junior section with girls and boys involved from 4 year olds to 16 year olds!

Why are we crowdfunding?

With player welfare and development at the forefront of our ethos and with our old scrum machine no longer safe to use it was decided that a new scrum machine was an essential piece of equipment that we needed going into this season.

The scrum and certainly the front row is not seen by many as the glamorous position on the rugby field however without a front row a competitive game of rugby can not take place! Having a scrum machine is therefore going to enable us to train players to play in this position and to help develop youth players when they make the transition through age group rugby!

In honour of our former player, Keith Long, who departed us far too soon, the new machine will be named "The Fridge" - a fitting tribute to someone who was such an important part of our rugby family. Keith's legacy will therefore live on every time our players use this machine to improve their game.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Given the urgency that was needed to obtain this vital piece of equipment we had no option but to take out a loan to ensure that we had it in time for the start of the season. We are therefore now crowdfunding to raise funds so that we can repay this loan.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
