Aim: To convert the old cricket pitch into a new full sized pitch. Supported by Sport Englands match funding with a grant of upto £14,772.

Who are we?

Grange Park Sports Club plays a vital role in supporting both the senior & junior rugby teams of Wetherby RUFC, as well as Kirk Deighton Rangers junior football club. Alongside our senior adult rugby team we also provide opportunities for children aged six to eighteen to engage in football and rugby, with approximately 500 young athletes utilising our facility on a weekly basis.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Due to the nature of the ground needed for the new pitch, which includes raised mounds, areas of unsuitable soil and other irregularities, the delivery of this project requires the expertise of an external contractor. The work will involve significant earthworks to level the area, stripping the majority of the existing surface, levelling and relaying the soil followed by the seeding and fertilisation of new grass to create a suitable, high-quality surface for the new pitch.

We are immensely appreciative of Sport England's Movement Fund which has agreed to match fund this project with up to 50% of the costs, up to £14772. Therefore to complete this nearly £30k project we need to raise a minimum of £14772. Sport Englands Movement fund will match fund us the remaining amount to complete the project. Any funds raised above this amount will be put towards the costs of further associated developments such as posts or new pitchside fencing.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will create an additional top quality playing surface suitable for games from senior 1st team level downwards. This additional pitch will add to the current pitches already at Grange Park, making pitch management and maintenance easier and easing the over use of the existing pitches.

Community impact

Grange Park Sports Club plays a vital role in supporting access to sport for adults and juniors, being the largest multi sports hub in the Wetherby and surrounding areas. We provide opportunities for children from age six upwards to engage in regular sporting activities, with over 500 young athletes utilising our facility on a weekly basis.

We are committed to the continued development of our junior section, with a particular focus on retaining active participation from children aged 14 to 18 in order to encourage and foster a lifelong involvement in sport.

In addition to the rugby and football clubs, Grange Park is also home to Wetherby Bowling and Wetherby Padel clubs and is also regularly used for the other outside events such as national archery weekends, softball weekends as well as being utilised regularly by various schools, Yorkshire Rugby Union and not forgetting the ever popular annual Wetherby Beer festival.
