The aim of the project is to create a safe, inclusive outdoor space for young people to relax, connect and enjoy time with family & friends.
The aim of the project is to create a dedicated outdoor space for young people at Derian House Children’s Hospice, designed to meet their unique needs and enhance their quality of life. As young people transition into adulthood, they often require spaces that reflect their growing independence and offer opportunities for social interaction, relaxation, and enjoyment. This new area will include accessible pathways, sensory planting, sheltered seating, and peaceful zones for reflection and connection. It will be a safe, inclusive environment where young people can spend meaningful time with friends and family, away from clinical settings. The space will promote mental wellbeing, emotional resilience, and a sense of normality during challenging times. Above all, the project seeks to respect the dignity and individuality of each young person, providing them with a comforting and engaging place that feels like their own.
