Raising funds for ground equipment, to ensure we can continue to provide an affordable sporting facility for the local community.

Should we exceed our target, any additional funds will be spent on improving facilities and training equipment for our junior section.
New Mills Cricket Club is a friendly, diverse and volunteer run community sports club offering affordable and inclusive sport to New Mills and the High Peak area.
Our cricket section consists of 3 Senior weekend teams, a Womens hard ball and soft ball team, and Junior teams from age 9 to 19. We provide a sustainable, safe, family friendly and welcoming club environment and are proud to be at the heart of our local community. We believe that’s what makes our club so special to our members and visitors.
New Mills Cricket Club is embarking on a crowdfunding campaign to secure funds for essential new ground equipment. We are very lucky to have several hardworking volunteers that do a very good job in maintaining our ground. However, despite the many hours of their time they give back to the local community, most of our equipment is decades old and unfortunately no longer up to the task. With a significant rise in participation, particularly within our Junior and Women's sections, our ground is now in use 7 days a weeks during the summer season. It is therefore more important than ever that we look after our pitch facilities to ensure we can continue to grow the game of cricket in New Mills and offer affordable sport to all.
The most pressing purchase that we require, is a new wicket roller. Unfortunately, at the end of the 2023 season, our old diesel roller finally packed in after many years of service. It is imperative that a new roller is purchased as soon as possible for us to be able to fulfil our fixtures for the 2024 season. For those that don’t know, a cricket wicket must be rolled before a match to ensure a consistent bounce and the safety of the batsmen. To put it simply, without the purchase of a new roller, we will not be able to play cricket in 2024.
This will be our second Crowdfunder campaign, following a successful one in 2021 that saw us raise over £20,000+ over 42 days. The money raised ensured the clubs future, after the COVID-19 pandemic caused us to lose the majority of our income in 2020, and provided a springboard for us to go from strength to strength over the last few years. Since then, we’ve seen the creation of our first Women’s team, enjoyed on field success with our junior teams, and invested in improvements to our pavilion bar, access road and new LED Scoreboard (See below photos)
The campaign was such a success and was so well supported by not only our members, but local businesses and community, that we are going to give it another go in 2024! We are therefore attempting to again raise £20,000 through crowdfunding, to purchase new ground equipment. Your generous support will enable us to uphold our commitment to providing accessible cricket for all members of our community for decades to come. Below are just a few examples of the many events we have put on for people in the local community over the last couple of years:
July 2022, we hosted the Bissenden Cup Final (The 1XI cup final for our league), and made it a whole town affair. The weather was perfect and we had many in attendance enjoying their surroundings, a pizza van, ice cream van, prize raffle and drink offers. A great day was had by all.
July 2023 marked our 7th Annual Golf Day. A very special event this year in memory of our close friend Hayden Marsh!!
July 2023 also marked the reintroduction of an old favourite with a Fundraiser Race Night hosted by our very own Noah Smith. The night was a great success, and we hope to follow this up with another in 2024.
Every season culminates with our well attended and highly anticipated Junior Presentation Evenings with our Junior section continuing to go from strength to strength, year on year!!
We continued our tradition of hosting and playing in Ladies Soft Ball tournaments!!
We hosted a Charity Raffle to raise money for a very worthwhile cause, raising over £500. Well done Tom Boardman.
We raised money for Alopecia UK, a charity close to the hearts of all our members. A special thanks to Julie Markham-Smith for the handmade gonks and sweet bottles!!
Quizit New Mills made its return to New Mills Cricket Club, with 2 quizzes hosted in our clubhouse!! Both very well attended with over 70 in attendance.
We introduced our first ever Social Team, giving anyone in the local community a chance to give cricket a go!!
And invited Local Businesses down to the club to provide refreshments to our supporters!!
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
See our Rewards section where there are many different ways you can support us. If we raise enough money Sport England will match donations.
So whether you can afford £5, £10 or £50, please donate as much as you can to aid our cause and ensure that New Mills Cricket Club is around for future generations to enjoy.
Thanks, from all at New Mills Cricket Club.
