We're still collecting donations
On the 10th September 2020 we'd raised £6,670 with 96 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

On the 10th September 2020 we'd raised £6,670 with 96 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Our initial crowdfunder generated enough income for our first three releases with audiences buying advance copies, or simply investing into our set up costs. Following this we managed to navigate new funding investment for a further three releases to make six between October 2020 - April 2021.
Our crowdfunder now remains open in which we hope to generate future investment for the longevity of our recording project 2021 and beyond.
New Jazz and Improvised Music Recordings
Established 2020 in association with the Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music crowdfunding was launched to establish a bespoke, ethically driven record label run by artists in which to present unique international jazz and improvisation.
New ideas and new sounds for a new decade.
With funding support we put down the foundations for an environmentally-friendly label supporting artist independence, investing in independent music studios and supporting carbon neutral sustainable businesses to manufacture and deliver our products.
Established in 2017, the Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music was set to present the fourth edition in October 2020, but like many others, due to Covid-19, it was not possible to stage the event.
The idea of a label directly associated with the festival had been considered for a number of years, and with some freedom of time, and a lack of live performance situations on offer to artists and audiences, it was decided to put alternative plans to action which from the very start we committed to establish from a progressive ethical manifesto.
Whilst the postponement of the festival was not a decision anyone wished to make, it was taken to ensure the wellbeing of all involved and we look forward to returning in 2021.

Funding is used for artists and to cover the production costs of manufacturing ecologically friendly CD pressings, alongside some studio costs and maintaining an online digital presence, you can find our releases so far on Bandcamp.
The Artistic Director and Producer of Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music works closely with local and international musicians, graphic designers and studio engineers to create high-quality bespoke releases, with every aspect of the music production through to graphic artwork and presentation given full attention to detail.
Releases and Production
The New Jazz And Improvised Music Recordings project was established to encourage artist independence and offer a creative output for musicians. Emphasising sustainability for artists and music studios, the ethos of sustainability carries through production process by employing a carbon neutral manufacturing plant and distributors, using recycled and biodegradable materials whenever possible.
Gatefold CD releases are made entirely from 100% recycled matt card and include art card inserts, our designs emphasise the unique label identity. For advance and promotional copies releases are finished in 100% compostable and biodegradable environmentally friendly wrap.
Our products are manufactured in a carbon neutral pressing plant using 100% renewable energy and similarly delivered through a carbon neutral courier, finally arriving at your door in fully recyclable and biodegradable packaging envelopes.
At every opportunity we prioritise the artists who work with the label, and consistently invest ethically through our manufacturing. Our press sheets are produced from a certified eco-friendly printing service, the pens we write the delivery envelopes out with are recycled, even our email providers are run with 100% green energy which comes from hydro stations and wind turbines!
