New Pitch Mower for Little Downham Cricket Club

A good playing surface makes a cricket match, our existing mowers have served us well but its come to a time we need a new replacement,

Who are we?

Little Downham Cricket Club, located in the heart of Cambridgeshire, has been a proud part of the local sporting community since its establishment in 1888. With roots stretching back over a century, the club boasts a long and rich history within the local cricketing scene. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone of village life, nurturing generations of players and cricket enthusiasts. The club’s enduring presence reflects a deep commitment to the sport and to fostering community spirit through cricket.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our current mowers used for pitch preparation are many years old and have become unreliable and are in constant need of maintenance and repair. We are raising money towards the purchase of a new rotary mower which will not only save us time with pitch wok but also the cost of running repairs.

Being a small village club in a rural community we often get overlooked for funding and player recruitment with the bigger clubs in the area tending to attract support and players due to them having a wider appeal.

With the new equipment we can hold more matches for the adult teams and start a junior section to the club plus in the future starting both ladies and a disability sections.

How we’ll spend the money raised

All monies raised will go towards the purchase of a Cobra Fortis 25FTB Fine Turf Petrol Cyclinder Mower

Community impact

In recent years, the Club has placed a strong focus on development and inclusivity, aiming to grow and secure its future. A key part of this effort has been the successful introduction of the ECB All Stars Cricket Programme, which has now been running for the past two seasons. This initiative has not only brought new energy and young talent to the club, but also laid the foundation for our goal of establishing a dedicated junior side in the near future and to expand our facilities for both players and the local community. With a proud heritage and an exciting future ahead, Little Downham Cricket Club continues to thrive at the heart of its community.
