Aim

Enhance our Neuro-Gym project to appeal to the wider families of people with neurodivergent needs

Neurodiversity UK is a community-led organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people with neurodiverse needs to thrive physically, emotionally, and socially.

We believe that every neurodivergent child and young person deserves access to safe, inclusive, and empowering opportunities to move, play, and build confidence in ways that work for them.

We recently piloted our Neurogym project, delivering structured, supportive physical activity sessions designed specifically for neurodivergent children and young people. The pilot demonstrated strong benefits for participants, including improved confidence, emotional regulation, coordination, and enjoyment of movement in a non-judgemental environment.

Building on this success, we now want to expand Neurogym to include families, recognising that neurodivergent children do best when support extends beyond the session and into everyday life.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to expand our Neurogym programme by launching 8-week Family Neurogym sessions, enabling children and young people with neurodiverse needs to take part alongside parents, carers, and siblings.

Families consistently tell us they want:

Practical ways to support their child’s regulation and wellbeing at home

Shared activities that strengthen relationships and reduce isolation

Inclusive environments where they feel understood and welcomed

Family Neurogym will address these needs by creating structured, supported sessions where families can move, learn, and grow together.

We are also applying for additional support through the Creating Opportunities fund. This means every pound donated will be matched by Sport NI, doubling the impact of each contribution and allowing us to reach more families who need this support.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We are committed to being transparent and responsible with all funds raised. Your support will be used to deliver high-quality, accessible Family Neurogym sessions.

Qualified neuro-inclusive coaches and facilitators

Venue hire for safe, accessible community spaces

Equipment and sensory-friendly resources

Programme development and support materials

Monitoring, evaluation, and safeguarding costs

Every donation directly supports families to access an inclusive programme that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable.

Positive outcomes for individuals and families

Improved emotional regulation and wellbeing

Children and young people develop practical strategies to manage emotions, reduce anxiety, and feel calmer through structured, supportive movement activities.

Increased confidence and self-esteem

Participants experience success in a non-judgemental environment, helping them build confidence in their abilities and a more positive relationship with physical activity.

Stronger family relationships

Shared participation strengthens bonds between children, parents, carers, and siblings, encouraging trust, communication, and positive interaction.

Greater understanding of neurodiverse needs within families

Family members gain insight into how neurodivergent children experience movement, sensory input, and regulation, enabling more effective support at home and in daily life.

Reduced isolation for parents and carers

Families connect with others who have similar lived experiences, building peer support networks and reducing feelings of isolation and stress.

Increased long-term engagement in physical activity

By making activity accessible and enjoyable, families are more likely to continue being active together beyond the programme, supporting healthier lifestyles over time.

Community impact

The impact of Family Neurogym extends far beyond the sessions themselves.

This project will:

Support neurodivergent children to build confidence, coordination, and enjoyment of physical activity

Equip families with tools they can use at home, in school, and in daily life

Reduce isolation for parents and carers by connecting them with others who share similar experiences

Promote inclusive sport and physical activity within the wider community

By strengthening families, we strengthen communities — creating spaces where neurodiversity is understood, supported, and celebrated.
