Who We Are

Unmasked is a passionate community-based organisation in Leeds, West Yorkshire, led by Toni and Sarah, trained counsellors dedicated to supporting the Neurodivergent community. Our team consists of experienced professionals and advocates who are Neurodivergent or have family members who are. We’ve experienced firsthand the challenges and lack of support available for Neurodivergent individuals and their families. This inspired us to create Unmasked—a dedicated hub where people feel understood, accepted, and empowered.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a thriving, inclusive community where Neurodivergent individuals and their families can access tailored support, build meaningful connections, and feel empowered to achieve their potential. We believe that everyone deserves a safe space where they can find friendship, resources, and guidance.

What We Are Going to Offer

Unmasked is setting up a hub in East Leeds with the aim to eventually expand city-wide. The hub will offer:

  • Counselling Support Groups: A space where people can share experiences and find community support in a structured environment.
  • Individual Counselling: Providing one-on-one support for pre and post-diagnosis and for anyone who identifies as Neurodivergent.
  • Social Groups: Friendship groups to help build connections and reduce isolation.
  • Parent Support Groups: Providing advice and peer support for parents of Neurodivergent children.
  • Advice Hub: A dedicated resource for information on education, healthcare, and employment.
  • Child and Parent Sessions: Activities that foster bonding and mutual understanding.

How We’ll Use Your Support

We recently received National Lottery funding, which will cover our rent for one year. This is a crucial step in establishing a permanent, welcoming hub in East Leeds. However, we need your support to make this space fully functional. Your donations will help pay for:

  • Furniture and IT Equipment: Creating a comfortable and accessible environment with essential tools for workshops, support groups, and more.
  • Utilities and Insurance: Covering ongoing costs to keep the hub open and running smoothly.

Additionally, the funds will allow us to:

  • Expand Our Services: Introduce new group activities, creative workshops, and peer support sessions.
  • Offer Low-Cost Counselling: Provide accessible, professional mental health support for those who need it.
  • Build a Stronger Community: Engage more people through outreach and partnerships, reaching those who need us most.

Why It Matters

Neurodivergent individuals often face isolation and lack access to the right resources and understanding. By supporting Unmasked, you’re helping to create a community where people feel seen, supported, and connected. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to making a lasting impact and achieving our vision of an inclusive, supportive hub.

Thank you for being a part of Unmasked! Together, we can build a brighter future for the Neurodivergent community in Leeds and beyond.
