Help us create safe, modern practice facilities for our players and community.
Our club is about much more than cricket. We are a welcoming, family-friendly place where people of all ages come together to play sport, make friends, volunteer and enjoy community events.
We are mums, dads, family and most of all friends who have a passion for our little haven in the centre of Shaw, where we spend most of our Summer. Albeit 10% of our time we get to bask in the sunshine watching Cricket and the other 90% we are like little worker bees making sure the cogs are turning to ensure the club is running smoothly and our 250+ members are happy. We club together to raise money through events, charity sports days, activities, raffles etc and we spend a lot of time volunteering to maintain the facilities. We obviously have a love Cricket but we do it for the community, the children and each other to ensure we protect our little haven which we all enjoy so much.

Creating a safer, more inclusive place for cricket and community activity
Shaw Cricket Club is raising funds to reposition and install new cricket practice nets for our players, juniors and the wider community.
The new nets will help us provide safe, high-quality practice facilities for:
Why do we need new nets?
Our existing practice facilities are in disrepair and no longer suitable for the growing number of people who want to train at Shaw Cricket Club and are currently unable to be used during matches.
Safe, accessible practice nets are essential for developing batting and bowling skills. They will allow several coaching sessions to take place safely and give players the confidence to learn at their own pace. We will also be able to use the newly positioned nets alongside cricket games, increasing the usage for all.
Interest in junior, girls’ and women’s cricket is continuing to grow, and we want our facilities to grow with it. A new net area will allow us to offer more coaching sessions, welcome more new players and provide a much better experience for everyone using the club.
We are continually improving our facilities at the club to enable us to become financially sustainable so we can extend our offer of Cricket and physical activity within the community to all ages and especially to women & girls. We want to ensure that amateur cricket remains affordable for our members old and new and that money is never a barrier to anyone who wishes to become active through Cricket. We want to attract new people to come and enjoy our facilities, the new nets, alongside opening 'The Pavilion' to the community of Shaw & surrounding areas will attract more families and friends to come during the daytime, weekends or evenings to enjoy our better facilities and enjoy good food, coffee, drinks and company. The Pavilion will create a much needed additional revenue stream for the Cricket Club, enabling us to provide affordable training and coaching to more children and adults at various levels of ability and skill set. We already have established, competitive Cricket teams who compete in the GMCL league, ranging from Under 9s all the way up to our Senior teams, of which our 1st team play in the Premiership. We also have a very successful ladies softball team competing in the GMCL league and a recently developed girls U13's. However we are extending our offer by creating development teams such as girls under 9s &13s and a second ladies team. We want to take part in friendly games and tournaments for all ages groups, especially for those who do not wish to take part in a competitive league. Being more financially self sufficient will help us with our long term plan and to fund ongoing maintenance to the club grounds, pitch and outdoor facilities that are an integral part of the provision of cricket to our members.

The funds raised will go directly towards the new cricket net project, including:
Our target is initially £20k towards our full project and in addition to Crowdfunding, we are looking for other funding streams including grants and sponsors.
Every donation, ticket purchase and offer of support will take us closer to providing a lasting facility for our players and community.

We want to create a cricket facility that the whole community can be proud of.
The new nets will support cricket at Shaw for many years, helping us introduce future generations to the game while providing a positive, safe environment where young people can develop teamwork, confidence and friendships.
We particularly want to make cricket accessible to people who may never have considered joining a traditional sports club before. No experience is necessary, and everyone will be encouraged to come along and have a go.

More than a fundraising campaign
This project will bring people together through a programme of community, family and social events at Shaw Cricket Club.
Events will be announced throughout the campaign. We hope they will raise vital funds while also giving local people more opportunities to meet, socialise and become involved with the club.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge or Donation. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! Select one of our Campaign rewards. Attend a fundraisng event
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
No contribution is too small. Every donation will make a genuine difference.
Support from local businesses - we would love to work with businesses that share our commitment to sport, young people and the local community.
Sponsorship opportunities could include recognition on our Crowdfunder page, social media promotion, event advertising and acknowledgement at the completed practice facility.
Please contact us if your business would like to support the campaign or provide a reward or fundraising prize.
Help us secure the future of cricket in Shaw
Shaw Cricket Club has a proud history, but this campaign is about our future.
It is about giving children a safe place to learn, helping women and girls become more involved in cricket, supporting our teams and creating facilities that can benefit the whole community.
By supporting our Crowdfunder, you will be helping us build something lasting—new practice facilities, new opportunities and new memories for local families.
Please donate if you can, attend one of our events and share our campaign.
Together, we can make the new nets a reality.
One club. One community. A stronger future for cricket in Shaw.
