Who are we?
Sibton Park Cricket Club is a local village cricket club, established in 1903 who provide the opportunity for people of all ages from Lyminge and the surrounding areas to participate in the sport of cricket at all levels. We currently have 2 men’s senior teams and over 80 junior members ranging from 6 – 18 years of age.
With the re-introduction of junior cricket to the club in 2021 and the introduction of ECB Girls Dynamos program this year the club is going from strength to strength with teams being hosted in all age group categories. All teams participate in various leagues throughout the season and last season the Under 15s squad won both the Ashford U16 B league and the Saxon Shore U15 League whilst the U13s won the Ashford U13 A League and came 1st and 2nd in the Saxon Shore U13 League.
Why are we crowdfunding?
The nets are used all year round by members and the surrounding community but due to the increase in usage it has caused wear and tear to the current netting, which now needs replacing. By replacing the netting it will enable us to provide focused technical coaching in a dedicated practice environment.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The artificial nets are in constant use throughout the year providing our flourishing junior and senior sections with opportunities to practice their technical skills regularly. We wish to replace the current netting which has holes in with new netting incorporating vermin skirts to stop our local furry friends from visiting and chewing away at the netting. We also wish to refurbish the surrounding area with the addition of a retaining wall for the bank to stop debris falling onto the net area.
Community impact
Sibton Park is not just a Cricket Club but a hub/asset for the community, local visitors and where young people, families and adults gather to play sport and socialise. We are a family friendly inclusive club who is open to anyone who wishes to join.
As part of our Clubmark accreditation with the ECB we surveyed our junior parents and senior members at the end of last season to measure satisfaction. The feedback from the 2024 season saw the parents of our junior members give an average score of 9.8/10 for how much their child enjoyed the season.
“(He) has really enjoyed all aspects of cricket this season especially the excellent coaching.”
“He loves the game, great atmosphere and team spirit, and fantastic coaches”
“Excellent season due to the dedication, commitment and care shown by the coaches. Thank you. If you could just arrange less rain next season.”
