Enhance the surrounding area around the transformed pavilion to give even more space...
Aim: Our aim is to renovate our 100 year old pavilion to become a fantastic dedicated indoor multi sports and social space for all ages
Less than a year ago we came up with idea of transforming the old derelict tennis pavilion into a fantastic state of the art fitness and activity studio - totally new inside whilst keeping the traditional outside - Well with yours and Sport England's overwhelming help & support we are fully open for business so it's time to get fit and have fun at the club - look below see how it has been transformed and what fitness classes are already available
Our goal at the Neston Club is as ever to get and keep people in sport and this year is no exception !
This time we need your support more than ever to help us transform and replace our outdoor cricket nets - the Hub of all things cricket!
The Crowdfunding campaign for the old pavilion in 2023 was spectacularly successful and your support and generosity simply made it all possible so we are setting up a new campaign for 2024 to help us make the new nets possible !
In the meantime look what you have made possible already with last years campaign and see how you are already getting more people active and into sport
NOW it looks like this
Where you can do this
BEFORE it looked like this !! What a difference a year makes
Now smiling even more
The Neston Club situated on the border of Cheshire and Merseyside is a friendly and welcoming multi sports club providing sports & social opportunities to the local community- Catering for all ages from 1 to 100
Sports started at Neston in 1881 with cricket which was quickly followed by hockey and tennis.
The oldest building at the club is the fabulous Tennis pavilion, built over 100 years ago but now unfortunately in urgent need of renovation & repair.
The pavilion is of such historical significance for the club and the local community. Renovating it would help preserve its heritage value and provide a sense of continuity and tradition.
The building has structural issues rotting wood, deteriorating roofing and windows which could pose safety risks to the players and visitors. Repairs are essential to ensure that it is structurally sound and safe for use.
The traditional outside would be sympathetically restored, and the original appearance maintained but inside the building would be truly transformed with the three internal rooms be made into one modern flexible studio space.
The project does not require planning permission and the anticipated cost is £29,000 to cover all the above planned work, we have applied to Sport England for a contribution towards the target and we are looking at several other community grants and funds to see if we are eligible for assistance.
Time is pressing as the building continues to deteriorate, if we are successful in our appeal we would aim to start the work as soon as possible so that the new splendid facility is ready in time for the summer.
The new indoor sports studio would benefit all ages with activities & classes open to all age groups.
The renovated pavilion will be accessible for people with disabilities and mobility issues, providing a space where everyone can feel included and welcome.
The club prides itself on being a focal point of the community and is welcoming to everybody young & old. Post pandemic we have focused our efforts on reaching out to more and more people as we believe sport to be so important both physically and mentally in these challenging times.
We have been very successful in getting the younger generation back into sport with over 200 taking part in our All-Sports Stars initiative and club/school outreach programme.
At the other end of the age spectrum, our seniors, we have been working hard to provide more activities for this age group, but we could do so much more if we had a dedicated indoor sports studio which this renovated pavilion project could provide. We would be able to support this age group, getting them and keeping them active, meeting & socialising, increasing greatly their wellbeing and mental health.
The flexibility of the space opens so many possibilities which could benefit so many in the area.
Although Neston is 100 miles away from Birmingham, it felt at times the Commonwealth Games was only 1 mile away. So many of our players and supporters attended and enjoyed the games.
Many of our club sports, cricket, squash, hockey, and bowls were on show at the games. A fantastic inspiration to everybody here to play more whatever their sport.
It energised and motivated all our sports sections into creating a myriad of summer events;
The challenge now is to keep people active and playing sport, now just a one off in a game’s year, improving both their ongoing mental and physical health, their confidence, self-esteem and overall wellbeing.
We are building on last year success, with the aim to get even more people energised and involved in all sports . Not just the same age range and people but encompass more age groups with bowls, croquet, tennis and squash events now being added as well as repeating last year’s successful events.
The addition of a dedicated indoor sports space will help us build on the legacy of the Commonwealth games at Neston by enabling us to include events such as table tennis, spike ball, short mat bowls. Activities which can be enjoyed by all age groups particularly table tennis & bowls by the 55 plus age group and importantly keeping people active and with company in the autumn/winter months.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target and make this project a reality.
1. Make a simple pledge - Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Make a pledge and claim one of our great rewards. Again do not delay – every second counts.
3. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
4. Offer rewards yourself? Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout-out on our social media channels.
