Renovating our community space is to create an environment that can bring our service users to a place where they can achieve success.
We don't have much time, people are desperate to get their lives back in order after the crisis and to get the best help from us we have to be prepared to meet the demand by having the right resources in place.
Your help is so important to us. But before you donate, please have a quick read about how we started and what are the plans we have to go forward and continue to support people in the community at the most vulnerable time in their lives.
How We Began
Neruka’s Soul Food was launched in October, 2009 as Neruka’s Soul Food Soup Kitchen with great expectations and very little money.
(Charity no. 1164484)
Since we’ve opened our doors to the community we have seen people visit for various reasons ranging from homelessness, unemployment, lack of education, little life skills all the way through to families in need. We continue to offer support to anyone in need. Why are we doing this renovation?
Neruka:
I'll never forget the day when I was able to secure my first job, gain my teaching qualification and start my own self-employment business alongside running my community organisation. Being able to pursue and achieve my goals and realise my dream was and is rewarding and that joy never leaves you, especially when you know it contributes to your growth and in turn will benefit others when put to the test.
For this reason, it is essential that our service users can get to the same place of satisfaction, achieve their goals and overcome the struggles they face that holds them back.
Renovating the kitchen and centre is a start to creating that space that can bring the service users to a place where they can achieve true success and learn to deal with their challenges with practical steps that will lead them to attaining a better future.
Starting our new services means that the environment and the space must be able to accommodate the different settings required for our food provision service, social and focused setting where services can be carried out for advocacy support, sign posting, accommodation support, peer and group support, employment/job search, workshop and training for adult education & development where they can find their inner inspiration so they will be able to transition from barriers to opportunities.
Your donation does not end with the finished works for the renovation, but it is an investment into the start of something new. You're not only contributing to today, but tomorrow and the next generation for years to come.
We have great expectations to seeing lives changed and know that your support is much needed and you have an opportunity to also get more involved in the work we do whether onsite or remotely.
You can keep p to date with our progress on our website and please contact us for more information using the links below.
Once again thank you to our current supporters and funders and thank you in advance for your donations and gifts that will contribute to changing lives that are supported by Neruka's Soul Food and Partnering Organisations working together to make our communities thrive.
