After the last 5 years since we have opened and having faced the last year with such uncertainty the Neon is looking for support to relaunch
The Neon, formerly the Odeon cinema Newport was saved 5 years ago and now is a listed grade 2 art deco property situated on the gateway to the city of Newport.
The venue now offers Newport and the South Wales population a multiuse venue for anything from concerts and club nights to conferencing, comedy, dance, weddings and so much more.
A family run business privately funded to date focussing on serving the community to a whole with a number of associated charitable causes being supported along with a number of local businesses and our very own in house radio station operated by Newport City Radio.
Neon has become a hub for many in the area and is rapidly becoming the venue of choice for many touring acts and artists.
We are looking for support to raise funds to support our reopening estimated currently for 3rd July 2021.
The last year 2020 has seen Neon suffer considerable losses and only through further personal investment has the venue survived to reopen for the people of Newport and afar.
We currently have a number of structural issues and leaks that require attention whilst also finishing upgrades to our facilities ready for our expected reopening.
A new media room with full green screen facilities along with state of the art recording studio are now nearing completion offering Neon further ways to build interaction with artists and the wider community.
A new on site professional kitchen is planned to allow for full onsite catering going forward and something that will also allow for additional revenue generation in time.
With the support of Newport BID Neon has started a campaign to regenerate the lane behind the venue and to offer a legal graffiti zone which will be managed by the venue and working with the local youth to ensure the lane is kept clean and bright in order to shift the anti social current demeanour.
The intension of the Neon is to continue giving back to the city and for the first time we are asking the public for more than just their support in attending our events, anything that can be spared will truly go towards bringing this venue to the next level outside of Covid as a positive step forward for the city and the future.
