Back Story- A little bit about us.
Artemisia's Axe and the Corpse's Tongue, a small publishing house was created by two queer artists Jessica and Jonas of the limited company The Haunted Bouncy Castle based in Glasgow, Scotland.
The collective was started with the intention of creating a space to uplift horror creators. As artists who love creating horror art, we have always felt like we didn't have a place in or access to the larger art world and/or creative opportunities.
Artemisia's Axe was created so we could have a space for artists like us who enjoy creating horror, who wish to share their work in a safe and uplifting space.
Why Horror?
As people who identify in the LGBTQIA+ community who love horror, we are often posed with this question, why horror? Often misunderstood and overgeneralized, for us the horror genre is a way to express ourselves, share our creative voices, it is a cathartic and often therapeutic way for us to deal with the many aspects of our lives.
On the day-to-day people in our community deal with a lot, including, but not limited to: homophobia, transphobia, erasure and just so much unnecessary hate. We find that horror creates the space for those in our community, who enjoy creating horror to express their individual voices and their stories, when so often they are not heard. Horror gives us a platform to share our stories and gives us community.
Why Neon Horror ?
For our first zine anthology, Neon Horror, we called for creators during Pride month this year, who identify in the LGBTQIA+community. We put out the call for the brightest horror art and writing. Often we find horror to be somewhat limited to black, white and red. We wanted to show that horror can also be bright and colorful.
We had many submissions of illustrations, comics, flash fiction, and illustrated stories. We are so proud to support these incredibly talented creators and look forward to publishing their work for you to enjoy.
Below are some sneaky crops of the work that will be in the zine. To view the entire image please support our crowd funder :)

Reasons for Crowd Funding
Through this campaign, we aim to raise funds so we may pay our creators more than we could raise on our own, because we are both artists who don't have a large budget, but understand that artists need to be fairly compensated for the hard work they put into their art. Further we are also going to split the funds and send half of what we make to our chosen charities Mermaids in the UK and The Tie Campaign.
Last but not least, we would like to compensate for our printing/shipping costs. With your help we can pay artists more and donate to a charity, all the while creating a beautiful zine anthology.

Extra Reward
For this campaign we have designed an enamel pin. This project is very near to our hearts, so we wanted something extra, as we are both enamel pin lovers we thought this would be an excellent addition to the rewards available. Pictured below is a proof that has been sent out to be made, that should be done by the time our Crowd funder is finished.
