Recently we lost Neil Craik through a suspected Heart attack. We feel as a family a defib machine being located on troqueer road we all need
On Thursday 14th March 2024 Neil Craik a well known taxi driver in Dumfries, a well known Queen's fan and one of the nicest people you could ever meet lost his life due to a suspected Heart attack. Family rushed to him when made aware of the situation and his son managed to get the defib system from the toll bar on New abbey road in the town however was still too late.
We did however find the use of a defib was vital for people and realise the importance of having one near hand and this side of Dumfries does not have such and in memory of Neil the family would like to raise enough funds to buy at the very least 1 defib machine to be located on troqueer road which we will have a plaque placed above it in memory of Neil.
We hope that all his friends and family can help make this happen and help get a minimum of 1 situated in Troqueer if we raised more we would find a second location for another one.
A defib machine could be vital in saving the life of that family member , that friend or even that person you've found in the street and if we can have these located in as many places as possible it potentially could save countless lifes and it is something we feel Neil would be proud to know has been placed in his name.
So far we've raised enough for 1 defibrillator to be installed in troqueer and green light given by council for installation.
2 electricians have kindly offered to fit free on 14th may and training for 20 people on 20th may.
Our second goal now is to raise enough for Dumfries day centre they currently do not have a defib within their premises so time that was changed !
