Aim
To support families and individuals in our community who are struggling with rising living costs
We are facing a living cost crisis. Energy costs are going up, housing costs are going up, food and costs are going up but salaries or benefits stay the same. Budgets that do not already cover people's ability to survive are stretching further and further. More people than ever are being plunged into poverty and having to choose between eating, heating or washing themselves.
We want families and individuals in our community to feel that they have local support during these difficult times. So that they know that their neighbours around them are there to help them to make life a bit easier. We are all in this together after all.
We are therefore fundraising for a Neighbour Support fund where people who are struggling to make ends meet can access an emergency pot to get basic essentials such as electricity, clothing or food. They decide what they need.
For the last five years, the South Norwood Community Kitchen has been supporting local people living in poverty to get what they need to live and to build a strong sense of community support. We see how our neighbours from every walk of life are finding things more difficult and we want to show them that we are here and that we have their back more than ever.
