Nefud 2024 expedition will be the first to cross a remote desert (Nefud, Saudi Arabia) using a carbon neutral strategy: e-vehicles, solar
The UK Nefud Expedition, "Striking the Sun's Anvil" will be the first to cross a remote desert - the Nefud in Saudi Arabia - using a carbon saving strategy. This will be achieved by using electric vehicles and/or vehicles ran off biomass diesel and powered by solar energy. This strategy will minimise the disruption to the desert and pave the way for new, greener ways to explore remote areas of the globe.
The expedition with path find a new route across the Nefud - termed by the desert dwellers as "The Sun's Anvil" - an area deemed so inhospitable that traditionally it could only be crossed at night. We also seek to establish cultural and educational ties with remote schools on the edge of the desert.
The expedition will consist of a 6-person team: please see our website at: https://www.nefudexpedition2024.org/
Any funds raised will go to the logistical cost of the expedition
