Aim

Neat aims to challenge the cleaning industry and the way we clean. From the creation of the products to down the drain.

We want to shake up the cleaning industry. In a world with so many shades of Green (wash) we’ve worked hard to create something that is stark black and white in it’s intentions with our range of water-free, highly environmentally-sound cleaning products.

Neat started as all good things do, over a cup of tea with a friend.  We were lamenting that a couple of the big, trusted Eco-friendly product companies had been taken over by a conglomerate which we felt might compromise their integrity and weren’t sure what products we might use instead.  We also knew that our concerns about plastic consumption, environmental impact and carbon emissions weren't limited to just us but others too. And so we set to task to create a range of cleaning products that addressed these concerns.

So what makes Neat neat?

Water-free

The average bottle of cleaning product contains around 90% water, which means we’re effectively paying to transport something we (thankfully) can get out of the tap.  Our super-concentrates are water-free, making them compact and light, saving vast amounts of carbon emissions in getting the products to the consumer.

Raw ingredients

We have strict environmental standards for all our ingredients (including the essential oils) so that there is no compromise on the environmental impact. None of our ingredients are mined and they are all checked to ensure they are derived through environmentally respectful methods; if it doesn’t cut the mustard we’ll find something else instead. We use the lowest possible levels of the ingredients too, limiting impact from creation to drain and beyond.
Though our primary concern is environmental impact, Neat products are all non-toxic, child and pet friendly . Oooo, did we mention that they’re Vegan; SLS, SLES, paraben and palm free too?

Plastic free

All our products are plastic-free, with the exception our high spec plastic triggers (fully recyclable) and we also offer zero-waste versions (our personal fav).  Our bottles and jars are  made of carefully selected Amber glass bottles.  These were chosen partly as they look flipping amazing out on the side but also as amber protects the products in sunlight, plus the small sized bottles mean there is no need for chemical preservatives.  All our packaging is biodegradable too, reusing and selecting recycled options where possible, such as our biodegradable labels.

We also offer beautiful, plastic-free cleaning cloths made from up-cycled fabrics.  These were designed in-house specifically to address the micro-plastic problem, but by repurposing fabrics that would otherwise go to waste we also save on resources, again lowering emissions.  These guilt-free, biodegradable cloths are made by a brilliant Social Enterprise in Skelmersdale so we’ve also doing some social good too :)

Our vision

We’d love to get Neat into every home. Because we believe that if we can do that, we can make a significant impact on the Planet.  To do this, we badly need to upscale our facilities and equipment enabling us to make bigger batches, increase our market and hopefully decrease the costs (to you lovely people).  By doing all we’ll be able to increase our presence in zero-waste and local shops to increasing availability and decreasing the carbon footprint generated by the ‘delivery to your door’ model. We’d love to be able to upscale production to bring costs down and in the long-term to create a social enterprise for manufacturing to enable to train up those finding it difficult to access employment.  We’d love to improve certain areas too, such as getting professionally printed biodegradable labels or ocean-plastic triggers (ours are fully recyclable and high spec so they last).

Thanks so much for your time.  Happy Cleaning :)
