Nc’nean is a young, independent, organic whisky distillery on the west coast of Scotland. Founded by Annabel back in 2013, we are on a mission to create light and delicious spirits which can exist in harmony with the planet.
Our name, pronounced Nc-nee-an, is an abbreviation of Neachneohain, known as the Queen of Spirits in ancient Gaelic legend. She was known as a fierce protector of nature and for walking her own path.
Sustainability runs through our veins. We believe it is our responsibility to constantly improve our impact on this earth. The company was set up to tackle the biggest sustainability issues from the start, and as part of this we like to use a prize draw for some of our hard-to-find limited releases to raise some funds for, what we believe, are some of the best sustainability causes.
Via this prize draw, we are on a mission to make genuine change to sustainability laws, Scotland's natural habitats, and life on earth.

Ainnir: our inaugural release of Organic Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This delicious batch of just 1,320 bottles was released in 2020 at cask strength (60.3%) and sold out in just over 24 hours. The first ever bottle released broke the world record over 4 times by selling at charity auction for over £41,000. Each bottle is hand numbered and comes wrapped in the signature Nc'nean tissue inside the original Ainnir gift tube. Click here to find out more.
Cask strength: our first ever cask strength edition of our flagship single malt, with a limited run of 5000 bottles. It’s the same recipe as our signature whisky but bottled at 59.6% abv, with the higher strength of this whisky really bringing out bolder fruity notes of juicy peaches, tangy lemons and a finish of spiced rye bread. It is only available to buy from our distillery shop in Drimnin, or in the German market at the moment. Click here to find out more.
Quiet Rebels Annabel: the first limited edition bottling in our Quiet Rebels series, and created by our founder Annabel. 4504 bottles made up of predominantly ex-Bourbon and ex-Tokaji casks, bringing flavours of almond biscotti, tropical fruits, coconut and toasted vanilla. This release is now sold out and is extremely hard to come by in spirits shops across the UK and Europe. Click here to find out more.
Aon 17-176 single cask: a limited edition single cask bottling of just 266 bottles. This first fill ex-Bourbon cask is only available to buy from our distillery shop in Drimnin, Scotland, and has incredibly delicious flavours of ripe peaches, grapefruit marmalade and Jersey cream. As part of our commitment to this planet and its people, we promise to donate a certain amount to three or four causes each year.
With sustainability so close to our heart, this year we will again be supporting ClientEarth, an environmental law charity, with a unique approach - using the law to create powerful change that protects life on Earth. They work in partnership across borders, systems and sectors, to fight climate change, tackle pollution, defend wildlife and protect people and the planet.
Some of the money raised will be donated to the UN Crisis Relief fund, who connect people who care to people in crisis, providing support where it matters most. There are currently millions of people across the globe affected by wars, ecological disasters, and humanitarian crises. We feel that it is our duty to support humanitarian aid where we can.
Finally, we will also be supporting two local charities, the Morvern Community Trust (MCT) and The Scottish Wildlife Trust. MCT was established in 2009 to provide community benefit for the area of Morvern on the west coast of Scotland. The Morvern peninsula is Nc’nean’s home and it's important to us that we support our local community, and we believe that MCT do a great job of helping with local projects to support everyone in the area.
The Scottish Wildlife Trust are Scotland's leading nature conservation charity, with a vision of protecting and restoring a network of healthy, resilient ecosystems on land and sea, and in turn supporting Scotland’s wildlife and people. They are currently working on a project on the Morvern peninsula to protect exceptional biodiversity and a number of rare plant and animal species in the Rahoy Hills.
Join us in improving this environment by supporting the Scottish Wildlife Trust's conservation efforts.
